Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears hilariously both try to defer opening coin toss
The Thanksgiving slate of NFL games is getting off to a slow start, as 0-9-1 Detroit and 3-7 Chicago meet up for what has, thus far, been an ugly contest.
Did the team captains know what was in store? Because the opening coin toss ended in hilarity when no one wanted the ball.
As you can see below, the Lions won the coin toss and elected to defer. Then, the Bears also tried to defer:
“We want to defer”
“They already deferred”

That’s not how this works, guys.
Ultimately, the Bears did take the ball. But, we can add this to the list of weird things to happen during Thanksgiving games.
If you’re focused on your Thanksgiving meal instead of this slopfest of a game, the Lions currently hold a 7-0 lead late in the first quarter.
