Jesse Palmer explains what’s missing about this year’s QB class ahead of the NFL Draft

Jesse Palmer was on ESPN’s “College GameDay” ahead of the NFL Draft, and outlined why this year’s quarterback class is among the worst in a decade.

“On paper, this is the worst class since the one you referenced earlier in 2013,” Palmer said. “… It’s because there’s not a guy in the class that unequivocally, everybody just looks at and says, ‘That’s the first pick.’ There’s no Andrew Luck, Joe Burrow, Trevor Lawrence. They’re all talented, but everybody has a big question.”

Palmer then outlined that Pitt’s Kenny Pickett was productive, but the question is has he reached a ceiling. Malik Willis has the wow factor, but struggled in big games. Desmond Ridder has the tools, but he was inconsistent.

“I think there’s 5-7 guys in the first round that would love to draft a quarterback in the first round, the question is do they want any of these guys,” Palmer said. “Or are they better off sitting back, playing with the guys they have this year, and then looking ahead to next year’s QB class, which will have guys like Bryce Young, CJ Stroud.”
