Marcus Freeman faces loads of criticism after loss to 'lifeless' Stanford
Marcus Freeman is off to a rough start at Notre Dame, and suffered his latest crushing defeat, this time to Stanford, which beat the Fighting Irish 16-14 after it came into the game with a 1-4 record.
The Cardinal’s only previous win came over Colgate. It’s Notre Dame’s third loss as the Irish fell to 3-3, with losses to Ohio State, Marshall and now Stanford. Notre Dame had 2 turnovers, and converted just 3 of 12 chances on third down.
The Cardinal had lost 11 straight to Power 5 opponents. Irish fall for the second time as a heavy home favorite.
Here’s a sampling of some fan and media reaction:
Just a horrible loss for Notre Dame against a lifeless Stanford team.
ND didn’t lose to a single bad team for five straight seasons (2017-21). Under Marcus Freeman, they’ve lost to two in six weeks.
