Notre Dame’s home-opener against Toledo will only be available on Peacock, according to a report.

That’s per Yahoo!’s Pete Thamel, who spoke with Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick about the decision.

“We have always strived for innovation in the media space [and] our partnership with NBC and Peacock only solidifies that mission,” Swarbrick told Yahoo! on Wednesday. “Bringing Notre Dame football to Peacock is just the next step in the evolution of our relationship.”

Peacock is NBC’s over-the-top streaming platform. It also has the rights to other live sports such as the Olympics and English Premier League soccer, among other things.

Streaming services are expected to play a big role in future television contract negotiations for all of college football.

According to Thamel’s report, the results of this experiment could impact Notre Dame’s next contract with NBC. Their current deal expires in 2025.

Notre Dame’s other six home games will be shown on Peacock and NBC, the report says.

Notre Dame hosts Toledo on Sept. 11 at 2:30 p.m. ET.
