Kirk Herbstreit apologizes to 2 Ohio State players for national title broadcast comments
During the College Football Playoff National Championship Game on Monday night, Ohio State OL Wyatt Davis suffered an injury.
However, during the broadcast, ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit mixed up Davis with fellow lineman Antwuan Jackson.
On Wednesday morning, Herbstreit took to Twitter to apologize for the mixup with the names:
Wanted to apologize to @wyattdavis53 and @Hercules__52 for my brain cramp Monday night. 1st of all Wyatt hoping you’re doing okay & I’m very sorry you went down w/ an injury. Couple times I misspoke & called Wyatt “Antwuan” during that injury I sincerely apologize to both of you.

It seems like an honest mistake, but Herbstreit wanted to make sure there were no hard feelings between him and the 2 Buckeyes standouts.
When you’re in the live TV business, you’re going to make mistakes. But, Herbie is one of the best at what he does, and we’re sure the 2 Buckeyes appreciated the apology.
