Brent Venables has been a part of a few championship-level squads in his past.
The 2016 Broyles Award winner for the top assistant coach in the nation won a pair of national titles and even more conference titles at Clemson. However, Saturday’s win over Texas, in his eyes, “stands alone.”

It’s not hard to see the significance of this win. For one, it’s his biggest as a head coach yet. To beat a storied rival program as they’re ranked the No. 3 team in the nation is far from a small feat. It also puts the Sooners in excellent position for a run at the CFP with a relatively tame schedule upcoming.
Saturday was Venables’ highest-ranked win of his career at Oklahoma.
