Jackson Arnold, JJ Hester connect for OU’s longest-ever passing play at Owen Field
Jackson Arnold and JJ Hester made history on Saturday afternoon vs. Maine.
Late in the first half against the Black Bears, Arnold found Hester for a 90-yard touchdown to give the Sooners a comfortable 28-7 lead over Maine. Not only was it an important TD for Oklahoma, but it was also a historic one.
This is now the longest Oklahoma passing play in the history of Owen Field. Here’s a replay of the historic moment:

This is tied for the second-longest passing play in Oklahoma history, regardless of venue. The longest play was a 95-yard pass from Ronnie Fletcher to Ben Hart way back in 1965. That pass occurred at a neutral site in a loss to Florida State.
Oklahoma has had 2 other 90-yard passes in its history, but both came on the road.
Oklahoma’s offense is in desperate need of a bounce-back game against Maine, and it seems that’s what the Sooners are getting. Oklahoma has struggled mightily offensively this season and this is its second game since firing offensive coordinator Seth Littrell last month. Joe Jon Finley has been calling the plays since Littrell’s dismissal.
Oklahoma will play at Missouri in Week 10.
