Oklahoma has signed the son of an All-American linebacker to its 2023 recruiting class as a walk-on.

Casen Calmus, the son of legendary Oklahoma linebacker Rocky Calmus, is joining the Sooners. He officially announced on Friday that he has signed with his father’s alma mater.

He also shared a couple photos from the ceremony:

Calmus attends Brentwood Academy in Brentwood, Tennessee. He played outside linebacker in high school and figures to play the same role at Oklahoma. He’s listed at 5-foot-11, 192 pounds.

His father is one of the best defensive players Oklahoma has produced this century. Rocky was a 2-time consensus All-American with the Sooners and was a leader on OU’s last National Championship team in 2000. He also won the Butkus Award and Jack Lambert Trophy in 2001.

Calmus was a 3rd round pick in the 2002 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans, but his career was cut short due to injuries.

Oklahoma coach Brent Venables coached Calmus during his stint as OU’s defensive coordinator. He served in that role from 1999-2011 before moving on to Clemson.

Here are some highlights from Casen’s senior season at Brentwood Academy:
