Allen Flanigan was ejected from Saturday’s game between Ole Miss and South Carolina, and he could face potential discipline from the SEC for an ugly-looking foul.

Trailing the Gamecocks in the second half, Flanigan was originally whistled for an offensive foul away from the ball. Officials went to a video review of the incident involving Zachary Davis, and it did not take long for Flanigan’s foul to be upgraded to a Flagrant 2 which carries an ejection.

Flanigan can be seen throwing a clear elbow to the face of Davis as the two were running down the court. The blow sent Davis sprawling, though he was able to continue the game. Flanigan’s foul came with just under 17 minutes remaining in the game and Ole Miss trailing by 13 points.

With that kind of cheap shot, it’s possible Flanigan will receive further penalty from the SEC. Flanigan left the game with 11 points, and the Gamecocks were able to finish off a 72-59 victory to improve to 10-4 in conference play.

With South Carolina’s win and Alabama’s loss to Kentucky, the Gamecocks trail the Tide by just 1 game in the SEC standings. The race to win the regular-season title and the top seed in the SEC Tournament 2024 is heating up for a thrilling conclusion over the next few weeks.
