Chad Kelly has gone from Mr. Irrelevant to anything but irrelevant in Denver.

Kelly had a big scrimmage a couple weeks ago that started talks about moving him to second string on the depth chart, and after a big preseason debut last week — completing 14-of-21 passes for 177 yards and two TDs, Kelly was promoted to second string over Paxton Lynch. Case Keenum remains the starter for the Broncos (for now).

Great things continued to happen for Kelly Saturday night. With the Broncos leading 13-7 late in the second quarter, Kelly entered the game and immediately threw a laser TD pass to WR Courtland Sutton.

Thanks to Kelly, the Broncos lead the Bears 20-10 at halftime. The former Rebels QB engineered a seven-play, 44-yard scoring drive.
