After missing most of last season with an injury, former Ole Miss QB Chad Kelly made his debut in the Denver Broncos’ preseason opener on Saturday night.

And what a debut it was. Kelly completed 14 of his 21 passes for 177 yards, two touchdowns and an interception, thoroughly outplaying fellow backup Paxton Lynch.

Now, ahead of the second week of the preseason, the Broncos are rewarding Kelly. According to reporter Mike Klis, Kelly was taking snaps with the team’s second unit during practice on Monday:

Considering Lynch was booed by fans, this isn’t a surprising move, as Kelly definitely earned a spot with the second unit.

He’ll have to keep playing well to keep his new spot, but for now, it appears the Broncos are loving what Kelly brings to the table.
