Every year, the world of college football recruiting seems to be getting stranger and stranger.

The latest example of this comes from four-star Starkville, Miss., prospect Willie Gay. Gay, who has been committed to Ole Miss since June, currently lists Michigan as his top school. Yes, you read that right. According to the Michigan Rivals site, Gay has the Wolverines as his ‘No. 1 school’ at the moment.

“Michigan is my No. 1 school right now,” Gay said. “It’s crazy right now.”

All things considered, crazy is a solid description for that statement…

This sentiment comes with Gay planning to take his first ever visit to Michigan this weekend for the Illinois game. Although his relationship with Michigan head Jim Harbaugh goes back to the summer, as the Wolverines hosted one of its many satellite camps in Mississippi with Gay in attendance.

According to 247Sports, Gay is the No. 94 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 5 outside linebacker and the No. 3 prospect from Mississippi. Considering the Rebels current depth at the linebacker position, losing out on Gay would be tough to swallow.

The 2017 U.S. Army All-American has already visited Oxford three times this season, but his first visit to Ann Arbor has got to have Rebel fans feeling uneasy about the seriousness of his commitment. Based on his comments, don’t be surprised if Gay flips his commitment this weekend.
