Ole Miss beats out Mississippi State, lands commitment from defensive lineman Demarcus Smith

Lane Kiffin’s Ole Miss program will be riding high rolling into the weekend as the Rebels just beat out Mississippi State for a defensive lineman from Alabama.

Friday morning, Birmingham, Ala., native Demarcus Smith announced his commitment to Ole Miss over Mississippi State, Tennessee, South Carolina and Kansas.

The 6-foot-4, 272-pound Parker High School standout is rated as the No. 49 strongside defensive end in the nation and a top 25 overall prospect from Alabama in the 2021 recruiting cycle according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Smith’s pledge gives Ole Miss 11 total commitments in the 2021 recruiting cycle.
