Greg McElroy addressed Ole Miss intense quarterback competition on an episode of Always College Football this week.

The Rebels return last year’s starter, Jaxson Dart. But they also brought in a pair of high-profile transfers in Spencer Sanders and Walker Howard.

McElroy explained why he expects Sanders to win the job:

“I would think the favorite right now based on potential, based on upside based on the amount of reps he’s actually gotten at the college level,” McElroy said. “I would think that Spencer Sanders, the transfer from Oklahoma State, would be the favorite.

“He is a 4-year starter. First team All-Big 12. He’s thrown for a million yards. He is probably still going to be the guy that I would expect to be under center for the Rebels next year.”

McElroy also acknowledged Dart’s experience playing for Ole Miss and Howard’s potential as a former 5-star prospect.

Here’s a clip of McElroy’s full thoughts on the situation:

Last season at Oklahoma State, Sanders threw for 2,642 yards and 17 touchdowns in 10 games. He also rushed for 394 yards and 8 more scores on the ground.

Ole Miss’ annual spring game will be played on April 15.
