Navy defender Jacob Springer announces transfer to Lane Kiffin's Ole Miss program
Ole Miss recently added some depth as Navy transfer and hybrid defender Jacob Springer announced his commitment to join Lane Kiffin’s program.
Springer started the previous two seasons for Navy, the Midshipmen went 11-2 last season, where he racked up 101 tackles, eight sacks, two interceptions and four passes defended during that time. Springer garnered Second-Team All-AAC honors in 2019 after registered a team-high 16 tackles for loss last season.
Due to current NCAA transfer rules, Springer will have to sit out the upcoming season but will have two seasons of eligibility in Oxford starting in 2021.
During his time with Navy, Springer played the “striker” position, which is a hybrid safety/linebacker role in the team’s defense. It’s unclear which position he will play in Oxford but his 6-foot-1, 206-pound frame suggests he may be best-suited for a role in the secondary at the SEC level.

The bag men have done their part. Stay away from the coeds, head Kibble.
PITIFUL! You surely have a thing for bag men! It could be that he just sees a more lucrative future in possibly jumping to the NFL rather than that six year Naval Officer Commitment!
Does your grade school have co-eds?
I guess he didn’t like idea of the military committment.
He didnt mind a couple of years of an Ivy League type education at taxpayer expense.
How exactly does someone transfer from Navy?
You serve AFTER college, Like David Robinson.
That makes zero sense. Robinson didn’t transfer from Navy after two years and he didn’t play in the NBA until after he served his post college two year obligation…
I did not go to a service academy but think there is a way to get out before you start your 3rd year.
Interesting, I didn’t know that 6 year naval academy / obligation commitment was negotiable.
They don’t sign their commitment till after the second year and the commitment is to serve 5 years…
Ahh, so you do still like me…cool, thanks for explaining bff.
Curious, If it’s 2 and 5 why did David Robinson only have to serve 6?
My reply wasn’t to you… Dipsh!t…
Which one?
SDS doesn’t mind us commenting on this article?
A degree form The Naval Academy will go a lot farther than one from Ole Miss young man! Better think about it a little longer.
If he stays long enough to get a degree, he is locked into years of active duty….lots of guys leave all the service academies before they have to make that final commitment
Don’t be silly, a degree from the USNA or any of the service academies carries more wait than “any” SEC school. Don’t just single out my alma mater with your insults please.
Interesting……several black young men have been whining about the Mississippi state flag….some transferring, or threatening to transfer…
Yet, in the last few days several black young men have committed to playing in Oxford. What’s going on with that?
Either there is a lot of cash involved, or these new players realize that a piece of cotton hanging on a pole is really not a big deal.
The vast majority of flags are not made out of cotton. Interesting that you would even say that.
You caught the irony too, eh? Lol
You figured me out…….I said cotton flag instead of nylon….
I must be a RACIST
By the way…..quality flags are made of cotton…..the cheap nylon flags are more prominent in baton rouge
And in the nations capital. Goof.
Name calling…..the initial refuge of the intellectually challenged…..
Must be that l s u education
