Jaxson Dart had a 1st half to remember against Furman.

The Ole Miss quarterback set a new career-high with 6 total touchdowns before the break against the Paladins. Overall, he completed 22-of-27 pass attempts and threw for 418 yards.

He’s the first SEC quarterback to throw for more than 350 yards in a single half since Joe Burrow did so in 2019 while playing for LSU.

Here are a couple of highlights from Dart’s big-time performance:

Dart is just 30 yards shy of his career-high for a full game. He threw for 448 yards against Vanderbilt back in 2022 while playing for the Rebels. Matt Corral holds Ole Miss’ single-game record for passing yards with 513, which he set back in 2020.

A performance like this will certainly help Dart’s standing in the Heisman Trophy conversation. Dart is amongst the favorites to win the honor in the early-going this season. Ole Miss, led by Dart and Lane Kiffin, is also expected to compete for a College Football Playoff berth in 2024.

Ole Miss led Furman 52-0 at the break.
