Kermit Davis comments on several Ole Miss players kneeling for national anthem

Before Saturday’s home victory over Georgia, several Ole Miss players were seen kneeling during the national anthem.
When Kermit Davis was hired before the season, he said his team would respect the anthem, so many were waiting to see what he’d say after the game.
Following the win, Davis said he didn’t know the protest was going to happen, but said he respects his players’ decision to express themselves and stand up against hate:
Kermit Davis, on #OleMiss players kneeling: "I was not (aware). This was all about the hate groups that came to our community. It's created a lot of tension. I think our players made an emotional decision. We respect our players decision to do that."

The SEC has yet to weigh in, so we’ll see if commissioner Greg Sankey also offers a statement or not. For now, though, the Rebels seem to have the support of their coach.
Their next game is at home against Tennessee on Wednesday. We’ll find out then if the protest continues.
