Lane Kiffin calls out CFP committee, eviscerates ACC after latest rankings reveal

Lane Kiffin is fed up with the College Football Playoff committee after the latest rankings left Ole Miss outside of the picture for the 12-team bracket.
In Tuesday’s final rankings before we reach Selection Sunday, the committee dropped Miami down to No. 12 after losing to unranked Syracuse. That was Miami’s second loss to an unranked team this season with the Hurricanes still hanging strong ahead of 3-loss SEC teams Ole Miss and South Carolina. (Alabama is No. 11 and just ahead of Miami with 3 losses.)
Needless to say, Kiffin was 100% fired up on Wednesday morning after the deliberation led to these rankings from the committee. “You guys actually meet for days and come up with these rankings?” questioned Kiffin on social media while tagging the official CFP account.
He went on to question if the committee watches the quality of teams and road environments involved or if the latest rankings are just a ploy to “try and make the ACC feel relevant.” Kiffin also reminded everyone that an ACC team (Wake Forest) paid Ole Miss to get out of a 2025 matchup.
The Ole Miss head coach went on to remind the committee to “rewatch UGA-Clemson” if needed to get a gauge on the ACC vs. SEC debate.
You guys actually meet for days and come up with these rankings?? @CFBPlayoff Do you actually watch the quality of players, teams, and road environments (we played in one of yours this year ) or just try and make the ACC feel relevant ?? Btw one of your teams paid us not to… https://t.co/2WZucjAQSX

It’s worth pointing out that CFP committee chair Warde Manuel essentially said idle teams are locked into their evaluation heading out of Week 14. That means the CFP case for Alabama, Miami, Ole Miss and South Carolina is complete heading into Championship Weekend. The results of Championship Weekend could determine if that group moves up or down, but it essentially means they will be locked into that order no matter where they fall on the final rankings.
It should also be said that the No. 12 spot in the current rankings (Miami) would not be in the final bracket for the Playoff. The bracket must still create a spot for the 5th-highest-ranked conference champion, and that is currently projected to be Arizona State with the 12-seed but a team that was ranked No. 15 overall Tuesday night.
