While a win over Alabama would be huge for Ole Miss, Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin says that beating the Tide is not his “Super Bowl.”

Kiffin has not beaten his former team since he left, so he is certainly looking for that first win. But with the tough schedule Ole Miss has ahead of it, Kiffin and his team can’t devote their entire season to beating Alabama.

“I’d like to say we’re playing one top team in the country, and you could say it’s your Super Bowl,” Kiffin said during the SEC coaches teleconference Wednesday. “But last time I checked we play a lot of good teams after that, including LSU the following week which is as hot as anybody in the country after watching them last week. Going to Georgia at some point, the top team, longest win streak in the country. We’ve got a lot of challenges, happens when you play in the West and your crossover is Georgia. So this isn’t about me, it’s about us trying to prepare really well and play really well in a very hard place to play and we’re beat up on offense. So we just got to take 1 play, 1 series at a time and try to find a way to get first downs.”

Last season was the closest Kiffin has gotten to taking down Alabama since he took over at Ole Miss in 2020, and it seems like this could be the year Ole Miss takes the cake.

The Rebels have already flexed how strong their offense is this season, but on Saturday they will have the biggest challenge so far this season

Ole Miss and Alabama kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.
