Lane Kiffin went to bat for his Ole Miss team and its search for a New Year’s 6 bowl game. Fresh off the Egg Bowl win over Mississippi State, Kiffin gave his pitch for why the Rebels deserve a shot.

Kiffin understands he’s fighting an uphill battle, and the committee likely won’t listen to him even if he makes a good argument. But here goes:

“I think this one’s a pretty good argument, where you went 10-2, super hard schedule, even nonconference for the most part people played well,” he said. “But your 2 losses are at Alabama and Georgia, the 2 people going to the SEC (Championship Game), playing as well as anybody, at their place. I’d like to see the other people end up 10-2 and their losses and I would doubt their losses are going to be harder than those 2 places to play. Because Georgia’s about 30-0 the last 30 games, and Alabama has now lost 2 in whatever it’s been 52 home games.”

Ole Miss sits No. 12 in the College Football Playoff rankings, behind fellow 2-loss Penn State, which has a similar strength of schedule argument since the Nittany Lions lost to Ohio State and Michigan.
