Luke Altmeyer has announced where he will be playing college football in 2023.

The former 4-star recruit signed with Ole Miss in 2021 and was 2nd on the depth chart behind Matt Corral. But he entered the transfer portal at the close of the 2022 regular season as Jaxson Dart was the team’s starter throughout the year.

Now, as you can see below, Altmeyer is headed to Illinois, as he revealed on a Thursday evening Twitter post:

Brett Bielema and the Illini were in search of a quarterback as Tommy DeVito’s appeal for a final year of eligibility was denied, ending his collegiate career. The former Syracuse signal-caller threw for 2,397 yards, 15 touchdowns, and tossed 4 interceptions in his lone season in Champaign. The Illini are 8-4 (5-4 B1G) — a 3-game improvement over Bielema’s 1st year in 2021 — heading into Jan. 2’s ReilaQuest Bowl against Mississippi State, their 1st bowl appearance since 2019.

With Altmeyer now headed to the B1G after a pair of seasons on the Ole Miss roster, can he make his mark on Bielema’s offense and help the Illini build on the momentum they gathered in 2022?
