In preparation for Saturday’s primetime matchup between Ole Miss and Presbyterian, Saturday Down South is taking a look at a key matchup that may decide the showdown between the Rebels and the Blue Hose.
Ole Miss offense vs. Presbyterian defense
Ole Miss hosts Presbyterian in a detox game after two crushing defeats to LSU and Auburn.
Bo Wallace and company should have a field day with its opponent from the Big South. The Blue Hose are allowing close to 24 points per game, but have not faced an offense as explosive as Hugh Freeze’s.
The Rebels bounced back on offense against No. 3 Auburn last week, scoring 31 points on 487 total yards. Wallace had arguably his best game under center for Ole Miss, finishing 28 of 40 for 341 yards and two scores.
Presbyterian is allowing 368.6 yards per game, but are getting off the field on third downs, allowing its opponents to convert on just 37 percent of third down chances. The Blue Hose have recorded 16 sacks and 47 tackles for loss.
Ole Miss’ offensive line was patchwork in the loss last week to Auburn. The Tigers were able to get consistent pressure on Wallace after struggling the previous two weeks. The Rebels need to shore up its offensive front and need to establish some semblance of a running game.
