Matt Corral dazzles college football fans with 7 TD performance
It might be too early to single out a Heisman Trophy favorite for 2021, but it’s definitely time to acknowledge that Matt Corral is likely to be in the mix.
The Ole Miss quarterback is off to an incredible start to his junior season, and he put on a show Saturday night in the Rebels 61-21 victory over Tulane.
Corral, a 6-2, 205-pounder from Ventura, California, connected on 23-of-31 passes for 335 yards and 3 touchdowns against the Green Wave and added 68 rushing yards and 4 additional touchdowns on the ground.
For the season, Corral is now 66-of-96 for 997 yards, 9 touchdowns, and no interceptions, to go along with 158 yards on 33 carries and 5 TDs.
His play Saturday night had Twitter buzzing:

Through 3 weeks, Matt Corral is the Heisman favorite. None of the top preseason favorites have been better so far. But this should be a wide open Heisman year.

In live odds, Bryce Young is the Heisman favorite at +200 and Matt Corral is at +250. It falls off there to Spencer Rattler at +1200.

Back in April, I said that Matt Corral was my dark horse for the Heisman. He scored 7 TDs against Tulane — all with 8 minutes left in the 3rd quarter!! He is no longer a dark horse. He is a thoroughbred. #HottyToddy #OleMiss #WeRunTheSip
