Tyrone Nix served as the Ole Miss defensive coordinator from 2008 to 2011, and now he’s back in Oxford with the Rebels.
A couple of days ago, Virginia Tech announced that Nix was leaving the staff to rejoin his old team, and now the Rebels have confirmed that.
Per a release from the school, head coach Matt Luke said he’s excited to have Nix back on staff as the team’s linebackers coach:
“We are continuing to add invaluable experience to our staff with the addition of Coach Nix to our defense,” Luke said. “His tough-minded approach, along with his familiarity with our program and the state of Mississippi, make him a perfect fit for our program and an asset on the recruiting front.”
Nix’s brother, Derrick, is the Rebels’ running backs coach, so now they’re reunited in Oxford under Luke’s leadership.
