The open week comes at a great time for Ole Miss as the Rebels are dealing with a host of injuries.

Coach Matt Luke outlined them at his regular weekly press conference on Monday. Ole Miss is off this week and plays next at Auburn on Nov. 2.

Luke said John Rhys Plumlee will have a minor procedure to his knee this week. He won’t practice this week, but is expected against Auburn next week depending upon how much he can practice next week. Jerrion Ealy is in concussion protocol, but is expected to play against Auburn. Scottie Phillips had an MRI on a knee injury, and it’s negative, which means he’s probable for Auburn. Ben Brown, Eli Johnson (turf toe, ankle) and Elijah Moore (groin) are probable. Braylon Sanders (hamstring) is day-to-day.

“The open date does come at a good time to get these guys rested and ready to go,” Luke said.

Luke said he was very, very disappointed and sick to his stomach that Ole Miss lost the Texas A&M game.

“You could feel it turning and you’re right there,” Luke said. “You’re really close, but we’ve got to figure out a way to get these kids over the hump, and that’s what we’re going to do. Focus on attention to detail, these young kids to find a way to push through and win those games.”
