No. 19 Ole Miss should take care of business Saturday when Arkansas plays at Oxford. Since losing to No. 15 Memphis, the Rebels have gained their footing with convincing wins over No. 25 Texas A&M and Auburn.
While Ole Miss comes in as a an 11-point favorite, it should be a close game. Let’s take a look at what the media is saying about the matchup:
1. The Razorbacks embarrassed Ole Miss last year 30-0. While Hugh Freeze said revenge doesn’t play a factor, foxsports.com believes that it will. Led by a defense that has regained momentum in the last two weeks, Ole Miss will be playing with a chip on its shoulder.
2. It shouldn’t be a surprise if Ole Miss wins the SEC West. Or at least Greg Ostendorf from ESPN thinks so. While most people have focused on Alabama and LSU, the Rebels still control their own destiny in the division race.
3. In 2001, Arkansas and Ole Miss set an NCAA record for playing seven overtimes. Previewing the matchup this weekend, NCAA.com recaps the memorable night.
4. Tennessee-Martin put up 519 yards on the Razorbacks defense last week. KARK 4 News in Little Rock thinks that Robb Smith’s group needs to perform better this week to compete with the Rebels.
5. The Rebels will get a key piece of its defense back on the field this week. The Clarion-Star Ledger is reporting that junior safety Tony Conner will make his return to the Ole Miss secondary. Conner was named to the AP All-SEC second team in 2014.
