Gil Brandt, one of the longest tenured NFL draft evaluators out there, has started to speculate regarding the next truly great NFL quarterback prospect currently on a college roster. Brandt has settled his sights on a player on the Ole Miss roster – however it’s not senior Chad Kelly that has him so intrigued.

Of course the name Shea Patterson is not new to Ole Miss fans and the way Brandt tells it, he won’t be unknown to a national audience for very much longer either.

Despite returning the best quarterback in the conference, and potentially the nation, don’t be surprised if the Rebels get Patterson out on the field as much as possible this season in preparation for a likely starting role starting in 2017. The way recruiting experts, and now NFL talent evaluators, have been hyping up Patterson, it’s highly unlikely he sticks around Oxford for five years as the NFL will likely want to draft him as soon as possible.

Patterson was a consensus five-star prospect coming out of high school last season and chose the Rebels over nearly every college football program in the country.
