Ole Miss basketball adds transfer commitment from NAIA prospect out of New Orleans
Head coach Kermit Davis is looking to regroup at Ole Miss after a 13-19 record during the 2021-22 season. Now, he’s using the transfer portal to try and revamp the roster.
On Saturday, the Rebels picked up a prospect out of the NAIA to add to the roster. The player is Myles Burns, a veteran player out of Loyola New Orleans.
“Thank you Loyola for everything you have meant to me over the past 4 years,” Burns wrote via a statement on Twitter. “What a journey it has been! I will never forget the national championship we won together.”
Loyola will always have a special place in my heart and I love everybody in the community💯 but after a lot of thought I’ve decided to commit to @OleMissMBB @OleMissSports #hottytoddy #OleMiss pic.twitter.com/Et1TdRMCjN

Burns helped lead Loyola to the NAIA national title for the 2021-22 basketball season and posted a 17-point, 17-rebound double-double in the title game. Burns also captured the Marques Haynes Award, given annually to the player that leads all of college basketball in steals, regardless of level of competition. He finished the season with 152, an average of 4.5 per game.
