The Ole Miss Rebels closed one of their greatest regular seasons ever with a spot in the top 10 of the final College Football Playoff Top 25 rankings.

The Rebels close the regular season ranked No. 9 in the final CFP poll, their highest ranking to close a regular season in more than 40 years. They rose three spots from last week’s No. 12 ranking and earned a spot in the Chick Fil A Peach Bowl (a New Year’s Six bowl) thanks to its top 10 standing to close the regular season.

Ole Miss is one of seven SEC teams ranked in the final CFP poll and one of three ranked in the top 10. Alabama was the SEC’s lone playoff team, closing the season as the No. 1 team in America. The Rebels’ in-state rival, Mississippi State, closed the regular season at No. 7, also earning a spot in a New Year’s Six bowl (the Orange Bowl).

Georgia finished the year ranked No. 13, Missouri stayed put at No. 16 after its loss to Alabama in Saturday’s SEC championship game, Auburn didn’t budge from No. 19 and LSU just snuck into the final rankings at No. 23.

No. 2 Oregon, No. 3 Florida State and No. 4 Ohio State were the CFP’s other playoff teams this season.
