Ole Miss coach Kermit Davis comments on controversial call at end of loss to Tennessee
The Ole Miss Rebels had a chance to beat the Tennessee Volunteers at home on Wednesday night, but a couple of controversial calls in the final minute cost them that chance.
No one was more upset with the calls than Ole Miss coach Kermit Davis, who got a technical for throwing his jacket. Fans, though, matched that intensity by throwing trash on the court after the final buzzer.
After the game, Davis said he overreacted and took the blame for causing fans to cover the arena in trash:
Ole Miss coach Kermit Davis: Tough call on that charge/block. I shouldn’t have reacted the way I did. That probably egged on our crowd to react the way it did. I shouldn’t have done that.

As for the charge call, he said he thought it was a play that was risky by Admiral Schofield, but said it worked out for the best for the Vols.
Ole Miss coach Kermit Davis: I bet Rick didn’t want Admiral trying to take a charge in that spot, but that’s what he did, and it worked.

Whatever the case, the Rebels were dealt a loss and the Vols remained tied for the lead in the SEC standings. Now, Davis must get his team back on track on Saturday night at Arkansas.
