With Ole Miss’ victory over Texas Tech on Saturday, head coach Matt Luke will pick up the first six-figure, performance-incentive bonus for the 2018 season.

According to usatoday.com, Luke secured a $150,000 bonus for his week-one victory, thanks to a detail in the contract sheet the school offered him.

During his first full season as Mississippi’s head coach, he can earn the amount for any regular-season win over an opponent from a Power Five conference other than the SEC.

The former offensive coordinator served as the interim coach for the Rebels in 2017 after Hugh Freeze’s resignation, and Ole Miss decided to promote him after a 6-6 season.

Ole Miss defeated Texas Tech 47-27 behind QB Jordan Ta’amu’s 336 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Scottie Phillips also had himself a game, racking up 204 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries.

Along with this extra incentive, Luke can also pick up an additional $150,000 for each of Ole Miss’ SEC wins, beginning with their third SEC win of the season.
