Ole Miss did not find its way into the College Football Playoff like fans hoped they would this fall. But even after falling short of the CFP, the Rebels get a chance to end the season on a high note.
That comes when Ole Miss squares off against Duke in a Thursday night Gator Bowl matchup. Originally set for a 7:30 pm ET kickoff, the game itself has been shifted back slightly to accommodate the CFP Sugar Bowl matchup that was postponed due to the tragedy in New Orleans.
Ole Miss dropped its hype video for the matchup on New Year’s Day with the theme of leaving it all on the field. The voiceover is provided by KD Hill and it is the perfect way to kickstart 2025.
While Lane Kiffin has been vocal in his criticism of the CFP committee and being left out of the Playoff, the Rebels still have plenty to play for in the bowl game. A win would give Ole Miss a 10th win of the season and back-to-back seasons with double-digit victories. The program has not had back-to-back seasons of 10+ wins since the 1959-60 seasons when the program captured the 1960 national championship.
Getting to 10 wins would also give Kiffin his 3rd season of 10+ wins with the Rebels. Only John Vaught (4) has more seasons of 10+ wins in Ole Miss history, and Kiffin is searching for his 3rd bowl victory with the Rebels.
