Ole Miss fans react to rough start for Rebels special teams unit

The 3rd phase of the game can be the one that gets you when you least expect it.

Special teams is important, and Ole Miss football is learning that so far Saturday night against Auburn. The Rebels and Tigers are tied at 14 on The Plains. It’s not as simple as pinning this start on poor special teams play, but that unit certainly has not helped Lane Kiffin’s squad so far.

For one, the Rebels missed a field goal attempt in the 2nd quarter. Kind of. More like, they never even attempted it after a bad snap.

The Rebels then very nearly muffed a punt that gave the Tigers the ball in excellent field position, but were able to miraculously pounce back on the ball.

Ultimately, it’s worked out better than it could have been. But that doesn’t mean there were not some complaints.
