Ole Miss is poised to lose some depth at linebacker exiting the spring as Kevontae Ruggs’ name is now listed in the NCAA transfer portal.

Matt Zenitz of AL.com was the first to report the news.

Ruggs appeared in 11 games for the Rebels last season and registered 16 tackles, with a season-best five coming against LSU. Following his debut with Ole Miss, Ruggs was suspended during the spring for unspecified reasons by Matt Luke. Ole Miss had not publicly lifted Ruggs’ suspension prior to this news.

The sophomore linebacker came to Oxford after being rated as a four-star prospect out of Lee High School in Montgomery, Ala. Ruggs is the brother of Alabama receiver Henry Ruggs.
