Ole Miss is pausing team activities for at least one day due to COVID issues, the Rebels announced Wednesday. The team hopes to return to practice Thursday.
The program shared a statement via its official Twitter account:
“Out of an abundance of caution, Ole Miss Football has canceled Wednesday’s team activities to conduct contact tracing surrounding a small number of positive COVID-19 tests among players and staff. Practice is scheduled to resume Thursday, pending the outcome of additional tests. The student-athletes and staff affected are taking appropriate safety measures in accordance with university protocol.”
Lane Kiffin’s squad was already scheduled to be off this Saturday. Ole Miss has two makeup games to be played against Texas A&M and LSU. College football insider Ross Dellenger of Sports Illustrated shared how that scheduling will likely play out:
Heard earlier this week that Ole Miss had received some positive test results on Monday.
In good news: the Rebels are off this weekend. They have Texas A&M on Dec. 12 and LSU on Dec. 19, tentatively. https://t.co/xdZeubNb7B

Barring more postponements, A&M-Tennessee will shift to Dec. 19 to allow for Ole Miss-LSU to be played on Dec. 19. LSU plays Florida on Dec. 12. https://t.co/SuDAbJcnPK
