Entering Friday’s action, the Rebels are sitting firmly on the bubble for the NCAA Tournament.

That’s something Ole Miss head coach Kermit Davis alluded to during his Thursday evening press conference when asked about the importance of Friday’s matchup against LSU and if he believes a win would put the Rebels in the NCAA Tournament.

“I think so. I do,” Davis answered before admitting the selection process can be a tough thing to gauge. “We still may be – I don’t know. Things like the Mississippi State win, they may move that to a quad 1 win for us. You never know the nuances of the bubble and all that, but yeah, we understand we have to win some games, but it’s a big game for both teams.”

When it comes to Ole Miss’ odds to make the NCAA Tournament, the Rebels are listed as the top team on the “First Four Out” per ESPN’s Joe Lunardi. Lunardi updated his list late Thursday evening after Ole Miss beat South Carolina in the SEC Tournament.

Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports also lists Ole Miss as a bubble team to monitor heading into Friday’s games.

LSU and Ole Miss face off in the final game scheduled to be played Friday from Nashville with the Tigers currently a 1.5-point favorite in the game.
