Ole Miss softball player shoves umpire during NCAA Tournament regional game
The Ole Miss Rebels lost 12-6 to regional host Arizona in Sunday night’s NCAA Tournament matchup.
But, in the bottom of the fifth inning, there were some dramatics, as an Ole Miss baserunner appeared to shove an umpire.
You can see the moment in the video below. Ole Miss player Nyomi Jones attempts to run between the umpires and the coaches who were having a discussion about the strike zone. She then makes contact with an umpire and extends her arms:
Head coach Jamie Trachsel made the decision to bench Jones after the incident. She was not ejected from the game.
Ole Miss is now eliminated from the tournament, having lost to Arizona twice.
