Lane Kiffin got the signature win he was seeking on Saturday as Ole Miss beat LSU, bouncing back from the loss to Alabama and proving he can hang with the best teams in the SEC.
In the aftermath, Paul Finebaum shared what he was happy for the Rebels’ head coach for getting the big win.
“I’m happy for him. It’s easy to criticize him, and I did and everyone else did was well, for losing to Nick Saban,” Finebaum said on the Matt Barrie Show on Sunday. “Maybe he feels like he has to do something more than just go on the football field. But against LSU he was quiet all week, I think he was motivated by the criticism, and he showed why he has the reputation he does. I realize that Ole Miss is an SEC school, but it’s not like Alabama and LSU. They’re not on the same plane. And he has to use the portal and he has to use anything he can. When the stars are aligned, he showed out as one of the best coaches in the country.”
The win certainly does a lot for Kiffin and Ole Miss. Not only does it give them momentum heading into some tough games against Arkansas, Texas A&M and Georgia, but it puts them in a good place to compete for an SEC West title.
Ole Miss will have to keep its foot on the gas next week as the Rebels take on a tough Arkansas team.
