Potential starting RB for Ole Miss Jordan Wilkins leaves practice due to injury
Tough news came out of Oxford Monday afternoon as it was reported running back Jordan Wilkins was injured in practice.
Davis Potter, Ole Miss beat writer at Oxford Newsmedia, shared the news on Twitter. Wilkins has been competing for the starting position in camp after missing all of 2016 due to an academic error.
Potter reported the injury appeared to be to Wilkins’ foot/ankle. Head coach Matt Luke confirmed the news, however, did not elaborate on the severity of Wilkins’ injury.
“I saw he limped off,” Luke said during his post-practice press conference. “I think he just landed wrong. I’ll check but I’m not sure. I’ll go check when we finish here.”

Wilkins rushed for 379 yards and four TD’s in 2015. Head coach Matt Luke is already facing a tough task in the wake of Hugh Freeze’s departure. Losing Wilkins would be another setback in an already tough season for Ole Miss.
