The Ole Miss Rebels have athletes back on campus for voluntary workouts, but some players aren’t participating yet.

That’s because several of the players are going through a quarantine process after testing positive for COVID-19 or having contact with people who have tested positive.

On Sunday, it was reported by the Daily Journal that 9 additional Rebels have been placed in quarantine after “close contact” with people who have tested positive. Associate AD Shannon Singletary said the athletes are self-monitoring for symptoms:

As of Sunday morning, players’ parents had not been notified by school officials of any positive test results, sources said.

“What we are doing is managing our protocols in which we identify positive athletes then identify close contacts,” he said. “Those athletes are self-monitoring. If they being to show symptoms we take the necessary steps.”

Last week, it was reported that up to a dozen additional positive tests were recorded at Ole Miss.
