Report: Ole Miss set to hire Rich Rodriguez as its new OC
It appears that Ole Miss has found its next offensive coordinator.
According to The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman, Matt Luke and the Rebels are set to hire former Arizona, Michigan and West Virginia head coach Rich Rodriguez to coordinate its offense.
The 55-year-old former head coach has more than three decades of coaching experience. His last stint as an offensive coordinator came at Clemson from 1999-2000. Rodriguez is considered one of the pioneers of the spread option.
Rodriguez last coached Arizona in 2017, where he finished with an overall record of 43-35. He was fired from Arizona on Jan. 2, 2018 after the school spent three months looking into a multimillion-dollar suit by his former administrative assistant claiming sexual harassment and a hostile work environment. He did not coach anywhere in 2018.
Former Ole Miss offensive coordinator Phil Longo is now at North Carolina.

U just can’t make this stuff up…
let’s see how long he will last. I would set the O/U at 2 seasons.
Looks like Luke is hiring his replacement for when he gets fired after next season.
You must not know much about Rich, child.
Considering what we had, I like the hire. Will see if the 2 previous HC’s turned coordinators can make Ole Miss at least decent next season.
So there are now two coordinators with more experience and success as head coaches
than Luke………how long before they begin to believe or realize they can do a better job
than Luke? The potential for dissension on the staff, or undermining the head coach is huge.
This could vet well be a PR hire, throwing a bone to a frustrated fan base…….hoping to sell
some tickets.
However, as a previous poster noted, they won’t be around long. After a year with bjork,
they will take any other available job. My bet is that we are discussing the
next O.C. time next year.
He was fired for having an affair and a sexual harassment charge. How, after the Hugh Freeze escort fiasco, can this b a good hire? Obviously character isn’t on the list of attributes required at ole miss. The walls are shaking and the jenga tower is about to crumble.
His sexual harassment charge was shown to have no merit when investigated. This hire has nothing to do with Hugh Freeze. It is amazing that a miss state fan would want to bring up character discussions…
Bs a$$hat
From an Arizona newspaper…Signing on with Ole Miss would end a one-year hiatus from coaching for Rodriguez, who didn’t coach in 2018 after being fired from Arizona after six seasons connected to allegations of sexual harassment and the creation of a hostile work environment. Rodriguez was fired in January after an Arizona investigation but has denied the claims of sexual harassment. So what part of this makes him a hire to b proud of. I wonder why he was fired if allegations didn’t have some truth to it. And if u wanna compare coaches let’s start it up. Other than Cannizzaro which we fired after a week into the season let’s hear some names that lack character. And by the way, we didn’t cover up cannizaro and blame our rival for our own lack of integrity…richrod is an awful hire for a school trying to prove they wanna do things the right way. I wouldn’t want my son to play football for someone who creates a hostile work environment. Just saying…
O M probably had no choice but to over look the alleged scandal. It seems to be tough to
get quality people to come to Oxford…..
They were forced to hire Luke, after a coaching search that cost millions. No one would
take the job
Had to settle on second or third choice for D C. One guy preferred to be a position
coach them to be a D C in Oxford
Two existing staff members wanted out of oxforf so bad they took a job at the small
program at liberty
Weeks went by looking for an O C, and then they had to settle on a flawed candidate.
What do all these issues have in common? Bjork.
The damage bjork has done to ole miss athletics cannot be overstated
