The Ole Miss defense hasn’t been very good in recent years, even as the offense continues to improve.

Though Lane Kiffin has brought in some impact transfers this offseason, the Rebels got some bad news on Tuesday afternoon.

As you can see below, AL.com’s Matt Zenitz reported that LB Jacquez Jones — the team’s leading tackler from 2020 — has entered the NCAA transfer portal:

Jones recorded 75 tackles in 2020, 2.5 for a loss. In 3 seasons in Oxford, he recorded 182 tackles, 2.5 sacks and 3 forced fumbles for the Rebels.

The linebacking corps is an area the Rebels have added a lot of depth this offseason, but Jones is still a big loss. We’ll see where he ends up next.
