Ole Miss has underperformed in each of their first two games to start the season. Despite playing South Alabama and UT-Martin, the Rebels have needed to make second half runs in both games to pull away for a decisive victory.

In Week 3, they’ll travel to Berkeley, Cal. to take on the California Golden Bears, a team who recently gave up 431 yards through the air to FCS opponent Weber State.

Considering Patterson now holds the school record for passing yards in a game at 489, you have to wonder if that will be surpassed on the trip to the west coast.

As much as the Rebels have struggled as a team, sophomore QB Shea Patterson has been a bright spot for them. In his two starts this season, the former 5-star quarterback has thrown for 918 yards and 9 touchdowns — completing 76.9-percent of his passes in the process.

His go-to receiver has been fellow sophomore A.J. Brown, who has averaged 194.5 yards receiving and 2 touchdowns so far this season. This 58-yard strike from Patterson shows the chemistry between the two:

With Cal’s pass defense being so poor this season, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Patterson continue to put up stats that would even look impressive in an NCAA Football video game.
