After Wednesday night’s Texas Bowl between Ole Miss and Texas Tech, accusations were leveled against a Red Raider player. Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin said an opposing player spit at one of his own players and used a racial slur.

On Thursday, Texas Tech and head coach Joey McGuire fired back at Kiffin’s remarks. McGuire defended LB Dimitri Moore, who was the Red Raider allegedly responsible for the spitting and racial slur. The head coach stated, “We are disappointed an opposing head coach decided to insinuate serious allegations that are false and irresponsible. I have discussed these allegations with Dimitri Moore, and he disputed the two claims that were brought forth against him.”

Moore also responded to Kiffin’s statements, strongly denying the claims made against him.

“I can’t state strongly enough that these accusations are false. It is disappointing to have my final game as a collegiate student-athlete overshadowed by the false accusations that were stated last night. Since I have arrived at Texas Tech, I have strived to represent my teammates, this coaching staff and most importantly, my family, in the highest manner. It has been an honor to represent this program as we closed our season with a great team victory last night.”

The Red Riders took down the Rebels 42-25 to end the season 8-5.
