Ole Miss defensive back Cliff Coleman didn’t play many snaps against Vanderbilt on Saturday but he made the most of his time in the game, intercepting Stephen Rivers on an overthrown pass during the third quarter and returning it 39 yards for a touchdown. Coleman’s nifty pick six a few inches off of the turf can be seen at the 1:25 mark of our highlight video above.

For his efforts, he’s been named SDS’ Week 2 Blue-Collar defensive player of the week in the SEC.

The Rebels’ fifth-year senior with just two career starts has had trouble breaking into a talent-rich secondary during the last two seasons. During spring practice, Coleman received the Jeff Hamm Memorial Award as the team’s most improved defensive player.

His first career takeaway was a memorable one.
