Dreams came true for several former SEC stars in Thursday night’s NBA Draft. Their lives have changed forever.

It’s a common theme now that most talented underclassmen will at least test the draft waters to eventually make a decision to stay in the draft or return to school for another season. The feedback provided to players help educate them on which decision to make.

Five former SEC early entrants elected to stay in the NBA Draft, but they unfortunately went undrafted Thursday night. They could have easily returned for another season.

Those five are below:

  • Jared Harper, Auburn
  • Lamar Peters, Mississippi State
  • Jontay Porter, Missouri
  • Naz Reid, LSU
  • Simi Shittu, Vanderbilt

The most surprising of the five is LSU’s Naz Reid. Sure, there are questions about Reid’s game, but there’s also a lot of upside that should have given NBA teams enough promise to draft him in the second round. Instead, Reid signed a two-way contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves immediately following the draft.
