The nation’s No. 1 defensive lineman on the 247Sports Composite, Walter Nolen, is one of the most sought-after recruits in the class of 2022.

The 5-star Powell (Tennessee) standout has picked up 26 scholarship offers in his recruitment. In August, he named an all-SEC top 3 of Georgia, Tennessee and Texas A&M. Nolen recently revealed that the Aggies have a slight lead over the Bulldogs and home-state Volunteers.

Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports shared the latest in Nolen’s recruitment Saturday:

“I guess you can say a little bit,” Nolen said when asked if Texas A&M has moved into the lead.

While Jimbo Fisher’s program is in the lead, Wiltfong says the Vols are still in it:

But certainly don’t rule out Tennessee. Nolen says the local Vols are slated to get an official the weekend of Nov. 13 for the Georgia game, however his mom said the Vols staff is also trying to push that official to December.

It looks like Nolen’s recruitment may be the type of battle that goes all the way until the Letter of Intent is signed.

More from Nolen and his mother can be found in Wiltfong’s article here.
