Stanford’s Joshua Garnett was named winner of the Outland Trophy on Thursday night, beating Alabama DE A’Shawn Robinson. The award goes to the nation’s top interior lineman.

Garnett is the most-dominant blocker on a formidable Stanford offensive line.

Robinson, a junior, made 42 tackles with 9 quarterback hurries, 7.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks for Crimson Tide front filled with top NFL prospects. At 6-foot-4, 312 pounds, he has amazing athletic ability.

Offensive linemen Spencer Drango of Baylor, a 6-6, 310-pound tackle and Baylor’s most important player according to ESPN, was the other finalist.

The Football Writers Association of America on Tuesday announced the finalists after a vote of its 2015 All-America Committee.
