Army vs. Navy had plenty of drama in the final moments — especially if you were a fan who bet on this game.

Army was leading 17-9 when its defense came up clutch with a goal-line stand to seal the win with just 3 seconds remaining. However, the Black Knights still had to run one more play. They decided to run out the final seconds by taking an intentional safety with no time remaining on the clock.

That safety — resulting in the final score of Army 17, Navy 11 — meant the game went ‘over’ the total of 27.5 in Vegas.

Here’s video of the final play:

It wasn’t just total that came down to the end of the game. Navy closed as a 2.5-point underdog at most books. If the Midshipmen had been able to get across the goal line on 4th down, they would have been in position to cover the spread.

Instead, bettors who were on Army and the over ended up profiting on this game.

This is the second straight season that the Army-Navy game has gone over the total. That follows up a stretch of 16 consecutive years when the total in Army-Navy went under.
