Cleveland Browns, Condoleezza Rice respond to reports of potential head coaching interview

Those waking up expecting a quiet Sunday morning were likely stunned when they saw an Adam Schefter report saying the Cleveland Browns were interested in interviewing former Secretary of State (and ex-College Football Playoff selection committee member) Condoleezza Rice for their head coaching vacancy.

Rice would have been the first woman to interview for a head coaching position, but she has no experience actually coaching football, so it would have been a strange decision.

On Sunday afternoon, Rice responded to the report, saying she hopes more women are considered for coaching positions, but saying she is not going to be the next Browns coach:

The Browns also issued a statement, saying Rice is not being considered for an interview at this time:

So it seems that matter is settled, but with the Browns, you never know for sure.
